Reflections From A Rich Day

I had a great day today. A day that made me feel rich in many different ways.

It's midnight and I am currently sitting by the TV at my granddad's house, in the beautiful sea-town Fjällbacka. I just had a nice talk with my grandpa Stig, he showed me some funny stories he wrote and a journal my Grandmother wrote in before she passed away in 2018. It felt really heartwarming to learn more about what she was like.

I woke up at my childhood home today, a countryside house on a small farm. My sister has recently taken over the house to move in with her boyfriend, and it's great to see them turning it into their own paradise. I have had dreams of my own about that house, but she will take good care of it, and I will find my own paradise eventually.

Waking up I got some fresh eggs from the chickens on the farm (as local as it can get ;), making breakfast with ingredients that are this local is a lovely feeling.

A beautiful day with clear sky and sun called for some kind of physical activity, so I took a walk on the road we call "Thomas's Road". Thomas is the old farmer that's running the farm, and he built this long road up into the forest. I hiked there while talking to my girlfriend then ran the way back home. I don't go for runs that often but it felt great, especially when the sun blasts me with love.

Me, my sister and her boyfriend then drove to visit my grandpa. We found him on the porch fixing his sunshade, funny man. After taking a fika together we called to meet up with my dad who was out fishing with his small boat.

We met him at the harbor and had a wonderful boat trip in Fjällbacka. We drove to a small island where me and my dad went for a swim, the sea water was unusually brown for some reason :p.

We drove into a nice harbor restaurant and ate together, I got a burger (it was decent but expensive). Grandpa called and said he was preparing food for us so we knew we would be eating double dinner today, he finds a lot of joy in cooking for us, so we don't want to spoil his fun!

The rest of the evening has just been chill-time by the TV, stories and small talk. I'm not a big talker like dad or grandpa and got caught up in the movie playing in the backround while they where spitting ot story after story.

This day has been a rich day. I have really appreciated the things around me. My family, health, love and how lucky I am to have all these possibilities. Being able to enjoy the summer sun, move my body in nature, have fun with my family and learn more about my grandparents.

Sometimes we make our own lives seem so serious. The stress and pressure we put on ourselves can make the simple and beautiful seem harder and more complicated than it needs to be. But goddamn we need to have fun and enjoy life!
